How It Is Used

The computer is connected to the SmartMan Code manikin via a USB cable. The manikin does not require any batteries as the unit is powered via the cable.

You start the software and login either to a practice session (no registration required) or with a group name (no registration required) or you can login and register.

Next you click on the Code AHA button. When the team is ready you click the start button. You follow the protocols and scenario as you normally would. For Example once you start the code a person begins chest compressions, then the BVM arrives, a person arrives with the AED and begins to attach the pads, then when ready the AED analyses, then you perform two minutes of of high quality CPR. As the code develops you may establish an IV, and provide different drugs.

You indicate on the screen when various procedures are performed such as a drug therapy has been given. When the code is complete, you click on the stop button.

The Code software will now provide a quick overall analysis of the skills performed. For example, how well the chest compressions and ventilations were performed, the time for interruptions, etc.

You can then click on the After Action Report to generate a detailed report. This report is designed to give specific information on quality of CPR during the debriefing of the code.
