How It Is Used |
How It Is UsedThe computer is connected to the neonate manikin via a USB cable. The manikin does not require any batteries as the unit is powered via the cable. You start the software and login either to a practice session (no registration required) or you can login and register a person's name. Next you select a skill (chest compressions, ventilations or CPR). There are several options within each skill. Click the skill you wish to perform. As you perform a skill on the manikin, the software will show you a colored bar on the computer screen. There are 4 basic colors. Bright Green means you are performing correctly; dark green means it is close and one parameter is not quite correct; orange means it is too fast and red means it is too slow. See more on colors here. These colors are the same for all SmartMan training products. Based on a quick glance at the color of the bar, you can quickly adjust the parameter required to perform better. Alternatively a trainer may use the colors to coach you. As soon as the skill is completed, the computer will provide you with an overall score and you can review your performance. Also if desired, you can access detail on particular parameters of your performance. |
